Holiday sales, 1953-style

Robes, blankets, jackets. Nylons? The more things change, the more things (mostly) stay the same, as this Christmas “gift suggestion” list illustrates.

From a December 1953 issue of the North Georgia Tribune in Canton, the full-page advertisement from Jones Mercantile has some usual suspects on sale, but you can’t beat the prices — 88 cents for nylon stockings, sports jackets (fully lined no less) for $9.95 and more for less than 10 bucks.
